The successful candidate will provide leadership, training, and development to hourly personnel by managing the process flow, resources and work force to meet and exceed established budgets and performance objectives.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent in this full-time role, the successful candidate will lead a maintenance crew of Millwrights, Electricians, Welders and Contractors. Higher consideration will be granted to those who have previous experience in the wood remanufacturing sector in a Sawmill, Planer Mill or with forest products.

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Achieving Maintenance goals with the highest regard for employee safety;
  • Capable of supporting troubleshooting & observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are met;
  • Managing the department cost in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost; develop and educate key metrics.
  • Maintenance Planning, planning non-emergency maintenance, coordinating PM routes;
  • Effectively communicating goals and/or instructions;
  • Managing conflicts
  • Supervising Weekend Maintenance and Cleanup personnel
  • Maintenance of sawmill equipment (this includes but is not limited to De-Barkers, Gang Edgers, Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker, Conveyors, Chippers, Blowers, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems)
  • Safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA), Safety Audits)
  • Training / mentoring apprentices
  • Creating and planning improvement projects
  • Managing parts with our purchaser
  • Scheduling and attendance
  • Will include periodic weekend coverage
  • Inspecting completed work

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Prior Journeyman Electrician or Millwright
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Well organized
  • Minimum of five years (plus) of industrial experience
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Two or Four-year degree preferred

Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and background
