Maintenance Technician - Dublin Mill (1 Skill)
Job Summary
Complete industrial maintenance tasks that support the Dublin Mill Operations. Provide services to assigned departments to achieve short- and long-term department and Smurfit Westrock objectives.
Essential Functions
- Provides technical expertise and maintenance services to the assigned plant that will allow them to achieve high equipment reliability.
- Provides routine preventative and no-routine maintenance on all machinery some of which may include conveyor systems, balers, mobile equipment, etc.
- Analyzes repeat failures resulting in excessive downtime and coordinate and perform repairs.
- Manages multiple maintenance related projects simultaneously
- Assumes responsibility for execution of activities including routine maintenance; non-routine/emergency maintenance; assisting with machinery installation and disassembly and keeping accurate documentation on all machinery and mobile equipment
- Managing parts and inventory
- Aids with the design of systems and in the selection of equipment
- Will maintain and enforce housekeeping standards throughout the facility
- Type and distribute reports: oil usage, overtime (daily), roll grinding and grooving, shift activities, general maintenance activities
Competencies
- Must be willing to work shift work and able to respond to calls
- Computer Skills – Microsoft office, including; Outlook, Word and excel. MS project is plus
- Standard use of mechanical tools, welding equipment, rigging equipment, chain falls, fork lifts, man lifts, rubber tired hydraulic cranes, hydraulic presses, ship equipment, safety PPE, etc.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule which can vary from eight to twelve hours a day depending on organizational needs
- Work days may begin as routine and continue late in the night with on call work; on call work is not optional
- Proper use and care of test equipment and electrical PPE to troubleshoot electrical AC / DC motors, motor control circuits and process instrumentation loops and to make necessary repairs with minimal supervision in accordance with Federal and State Regulations, and Company Work Rules, Policies and Procedures.
- Excellent teamwork, cooperation and detailed problem-solving skills
- Calibration of level, temperature, flow, pressure transmitters and controls using Hart, FoxCom, or Fluke Calibrators
- Calibration and repair of process control valves (Fisher) using Hart or Fluke Calibrators
- Distributed Controls System (DCS) Knowledge for troubleshooting process controls

There are no direct reports with this position
Working Environment
Due to the safety considerations associated with paper mill and re-cycling operations, all personnel must communicate verbally in English, see physical surroundings, hear others and demonstrate good communication skills. Smurfit Westrock is a Drug Free Work Place (DFWP). Participation in the company’s DFWP policy, including testing requirements, is mandatory.
- Working sometimes requires the usage of eye protection, foot protection, hand protection, and use of high visibility clothing/vest. Work may also require use of respiratory protection equipment.
- Work requires the ability to safely near industrial trucks and equipment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving technical parts, high voltage and low voltage equipment and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme ambient conditions at the operations site. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
- This position encompasses physically strenuous work involving working outdoors doing task that require physical strength and endurance.
- This position requires signing a company provided non-disclosure agreement.
Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work
There is a 12- hour swing shift between night and day shift. The hours range between: (6:30am – 6:30pm and vice versa) depending on shift.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job,
- The employee is frequently required to walk, occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Duties are performed in an office environment and on jobsites throughout the mill.
- May on occasion have to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, power outages, weekends, holidays, planned major equipment outages, etc.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma / GED with (3) years of experience in Industrial Maintenance Field or Industrial Maintenance Certification / Degree
- Georgia Work Read Certified
- Knowledge of Industry Standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Pulp and paper is preferred; but not required
