Furnace Operator/Castman II
2nd Shift
Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the processing of raw material (aluminum) into an alloyed and casted product.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities
- Prepares furnace for casting by checking molten metal temperature
- Maintains casting operations by stirring, fluxing, and skimming the furnace
- Uses spectrometer to analyze batch samples from furnace
- Determines necessity for alloy additions during casting
- Completes daily report forms and checklists
- Inspects equipment to ensure quality and efficient operations
- Removes product from cast pit, performs weight checks, marks products, and transports by crane
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner
- Performs other related work that may be required
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- High School diploma/GED (minimum)
- Must have at least 5 years of manufacturing or industrial experience.
- Preferred experience operating forklifts and other manufacturing mobile equipment.
- Be vigilant about safety
- Quality - conscious, oriented to excellence
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and techniques.
- Must have extensive knowledge and experience utilizing various hand tools.
- Physical ability to perform the essential job functions in a hot environment.
- Ability to properly use and understand measuring equipment and tools.
