Supervisor, Paint Department

Summary:

The purpose of this position is to oversee and coordinate the Paint department’s daily production by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (80%).

  • Sets the production schedule to ensure proper pump usage for color changes.
  • Maintains and pre-treats waste water chemistries.
  • Inspects incoming and outgoing material for quality.
  • Maintains all production and hazmat records.
  • Studies production methods and recommends improvements for efficiency.
  • Works with other departments to maintain consistent material flow through the Department.
  • Ensures work area and all shift employees follow safety regulations to include but not limited PPE, spill control, 5S and general working conditions.
  • Conduct monthly safety topic meetings with employee(s).
  • Reviews and recommends to manager any measures to improve the department and areas to include but not limited to production methods, equipment, quality, safety, service and overall performance of the department.
  • Training employees.
  • Coaching/Counseling/Disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/Experience:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred: 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial painting experience
  • Preferred: At least 3 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Preferred: Experience in Industrial Waste Water
  • Must have experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • This is a multi-shift operation. Must be willing to support off shift activities as needed based on business requirements.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Proper lifting techniques required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The travel required for this position is 1%.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. An individual may be required to wear appropriate safety protective equipment at the proper times and in the proper environments as outlined by safety program rules. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat or humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals.
